As human beings, as we all are, we have a tendency to forget how precious life really is. That is, before it is too late and you are loosing someone, or have lost someone precious to you. At times like this, you seek answers, or questions to start off with. On a misty day when my dear friend; my grandmother died, I got home from school and went straight to my back yard. As I entered the semi-forest, I could hear squirrels and birds scattering at my presence, scared out of instinct. After furiously trying to strike at the air, I paused, and gazed upward, into the tree's canopy. The mist was lurking, even there, but I could still clearly see every detail the tree had offered to me. No modern sound cut through the mist, no sight manmade caught my eye's range. It took me until the squirrels and birds became active again to notice how long I had been standing under that tree, at awe of how beautiful something so ordinary could look as long as you took the time to stop and see. Even though a lot of people say they donâ??t need too, it is very rewarding to just stop, even for a minute of your precious time, and just try to grasp, how beautiful, time really is. In the end, I was glad of how you could be rewarded so much, when simple things are noticed and gratified. At that moment, I knew that my grandmother was happy where she was, because I was happy too. Humans may be humans, but nature is nature, and beauty will remain shocking us in the places we least expect it, for the ends of time. It is my dream, my hope, that we never stop looking.
For my NaiNai, with love.
